What's In A Name
The word abrigado comes from the Spanish verb abrigar, which means to shelter, harbor, cover, protect, or wrap up. Literally translated, abrigado means warm. One might then think of blankets and mittens, hot soup, or a campfire. But there are also things like embraces from loved ones, laughter, kindness, and tenderness… these things come from warmth of heart.
The Abrigado Project is a journey about sharing one’s own little warmth with everyone, especially the poor and marginalized… We are all called to be more compassionate to those in need.
St. Francis of Assisi would wish everyone he encountered, “Pace e bene” or “Peace and blessing.” This project begins in this spirit.
Welcome!
